Well, I did it. I got through my first day of 1st grade. And it was awesome! My teacher is named Mrs. Piper and she is so nice! I went to her class last year for part of the day for reading so she and I are old friends. She gave us each a little bag of treats with a poem attached. It read:
I am so glad you're here! I have made this bag of goodies to help describe our year:
"Smarties" for how smart you are, and really special too!
The "Lifesaver" to remind you that I am here for you.
The eraser is to let you know that it's OK to make mistakes. We will correct them, and learn from them, no matter what it takes!
The pencil is for all the learning we will do. We will read and write and learn so much the whole year through.
The "Laffy Taffy" says we will laugh and have lots of fun while traveling together through grade one.

The best part of the day was recess, like usual, but I had a lot of fun at Art too. We learned mostly about rules and schedule-like stuff today. Some of the highlights of 1st grade are that we have our own desks! Last year we sat at tables. Now I have all my own stuff inside my very own desk. (Now if only I can keep track of it all...) Also, we have milk and snack at 9:40. That's before lunch. Last year, we ate so early (10:20) that we had snack in the afternoon. Now I don't eat lunch until 11:06. I like that better. And today I drew I really cool hockey stadium in my Spiderman notebook.
One of the guys in my class also goes to my daycare so that's cool. And I got to see my buddies from last year too. Overall, it was a great first day!
OH! And I had fun at Anty Randi and Uncle Reed's cabin for Labor Day weekend. They threw a party for me and even Grandma and Grandpa P came to it! There were kids there from the resort and we had a treasure hunt and got prizes for finding the hidden gold coins. It was fun! There was a pig roast and corn feed on Saturday there so we ate like kings. I got to swim at the beach, play at the playground and spend some of my bday money at the game room. After it got dark, there was even a Wii bowling tournament OUTSIDE on a huge screen. It was so cool!
